Become a fan of Rednecks & Red Dirt: Rednecks & Red Dirt - $$15 tickets, $$2 beers, free parking, free camping. Saturday, September 4th. For more information visit www.rednecksandreddirt.com The Rednecks & Red Dirt lineup is filled with up-and-comers from the Red Dirt Music scene. “We scout out the best new talent and provide a platform for these bands to gain exposure in a festival style event,” said Matt Wilson, President/General ManagerRock County Entertainment LLC. - Phil Hamilton and the Backroad Drifters, from Ft. Worth, is the hottest new band in Texas right now. They released their first album in April and their first single “Nothing To Lose” is currently at #15 on the Texas Music charts. They are a very talented Red Dirt band with a strong rock edge. They put on a phenomenal live show. - 2 Steps Back could be the most talented new band north of the Red River. Their debut album “Lovers and Fighters” is filled with great music from beginning to end. - Ricky Fugitt is arguably the best Red Dirt singer/songwriter in the state of Kansas right now. His music is heard on the radio throughout Kansas, Oklahoma, and Kansas. These are all independent artists. According to Wilson, “having a major record deal is not the primary focus for these artists. In Red Dirt music, it is truly about making great music and connecting with the fans. Saturday, 04 September, 2010 - Lindsay Weidmann Live @ Cafe Semolino
(Folk - rock - indie)Saturday, September 4th from 8-10pm$$2.25 domestic beersmyspace.com/lindsayweidmannFIND CAFE SEMOLINO ON FACEBOOKCheck out Lindsay's new album 'What Else Have I Been Missing'. Available for purchase on her website: www.lindsayweidmann.com With a amazingly captivating voice, personable, thought-provoking lyrics, and a wonderfully engaging live performance, Lindsay Weidmann is the songwriter to watch in the Rocky Mountain area. Weidmann’s journey to writing and performing folk music was a bit circuitous. She began her musical maturation at Colorado College with a BA in music, her primary instrument being voice. With study and training in the genres of Opera, Musical Theater, and Jazz, there is little of Lindsay’s vocal range and style that hasn’t been explored and mastered. Despite having the ability to pursue any of these avenues, folk music was always what pulled at her heartstrings. And so she began writing and performing her own music after college. Songwriting was an exciting transition for Weidmann, who has been writing poetry since she was a child. Her deep seated sense of rhythm in language is evident in her lyrics. Musically, she soaks in inspiration provided by her Gibson J-45 and produces a simple, rhythmic, soulful delivery. The early influence of Joni Mitchell, John Denver, and Indigo Girls captured Lindsay’s allegiance to producing personable and reflective songs. (Many of her own having been composed on a porch at sunset or at least are intended to give that impression.) Songsmiths like Patty Griffin, Martin Sexton, Patty Larkin, and Greg Brown impacted her songwriting maturation. Lindsay’s love-affair with simple pleasures and continuous investigation of the human experience promise the music of a storyteller’s evening. Lindsay has been playing the Colorado Springs scene and is now branching into other areas of Colorado. Her repertoire for vocals and guitar include folk, acoustic, folk rock, light country, and blues.

In the years since Machu Picchu was discovered by Hiram Bingham in 1911, there have been countless theories about this Lost City of the Incas, yet it remains an enigma. Why did the Incas build it on such an inaccessible site, clinging to the steep face of a mountain? Who lived among its stone buildings, farmed its emerald green terraces, and drank from its sophisticated aqueduct system? NOVA joins a new generation of archeologists as they probe areas of Machu Picchu that haven't been touched since the time of the Incas and unearth burials of the people who built the sacred site. Ghosts of Machu Picchu explores the extraordinary trail of clues that began on that fateful day in 1911 and continues to the present.”
